Well, here it is almost the end of February and I am still struggling to find my "word" for the year. I have a friend that picks a "word" to live by each year. Ya know things like, 'simplify','purge', 'experiment', or 'organize'. Those are just a few. Because I don't really make 'new years resolutions', I thought I would try the "word thang". (yes I did just spell 'thing' with an "a"..because that's how I say it). Anyway...I am still tossing around some words, but nothing has really felt right yet.....hope I figure it out soon, I mean really...two months of the year are almost gone already.
I belong to the local art guild, which met this morning. We had a guest speaker, Lane Bond. He did a great lecture about photography. It was very interesting,...I think I might have really learned some things.
I was ask by this art guild to chair a local quilt show, so during todays meeting I updated the art guild on my progress in regards to the quilt show. I am very excited about it and I am so looking forward to seeing some of our locals enter their quilts. I took some handmade awards to show some possibilities to use for our show. One design was particularly appealing to most of the guild members, so I will be working on refining and tweeking that one into something that will work for our show.
I will be going to the Dallas quilt show on March 9th.....so excited. Several of the Midland Quilters Guild members (me included) will be flying to the show early that morning, then back to Midland that evening. I hope I can see everything in one day....oh, and did I mention there will be venders. Yep, venders, so that means I need to see all the quilts and visit the venders booths too....ALL IN ONE DAY....ARRRRGGGGG! I am already stressing, but I will be with seasoned "one day trippers" so I am sure they will give me hints on how to see it all in one day.
I also have reservations for two others quilt shows this year. This will be my first time to attend and enter a quilt in the Ogallala Quilters Society annual quilt show in Dimmitt, Tex. in April. Also have reservations for a few days at the International Quilt Festival in Houston in November. Have been to this one several times and I just love it. To describe this one to my family, I tell them this is like the Super Bowl of the quilting word.....and just FYI, it is the 2nd largest event in terms of attendance held in Houston each year. Thats BIG! So many quilts, so many venders....I get tingley just thinking about it.
Now to warn the neighborhood that Michel will be 'home alone' on those days. He does like to do a lot a visiting while I'm away...haha!
I don't have any quilts to post this time but I do have some I am working on, so stay tuned and maybe I will have something to show you soon. I haven't posted any recipes lately either...not because I haven't been cooking, but I seldom think to take pictures, until most of the food is gone...LOL. I will try to do better.
Oh, one more thing...do you Pinterest? If not it is very addicting. If you do, you know it is very addicting. I signed up for it several long months ago...and thought..."I don't get it". Then decided to go back and see what all the hoopla was about. Now I think it is 'the bomb'. It is like hoarding, without really having the stuff in your house. You can hoard online...LOL!!! This is just my own little public service announcement...haha. Until next time...HAPPY THREADS TO YOU!!!
